The GRE evaluates the individuals on their analytical writing, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning skills that are not pertaining to any genre of study but skills that are required in the advanced study regardless of its field. Analytical writing
This section of the GRE test is designed to test an individual’s ability to present and communicate intricate ideas effectively, validate an idea by providing relevant examples, and analyze claims and corresponding proofs. Besides that, it also reflects on how well a person can sustain organized and articulate discussions and utilize standard English.
Quantitative reasoning
Quantitative reasoning reveals the ability to examine, comprehend, and decipher the given quantitative information, utilize mathematical design to solve problems and measure the basic understanding of geometry, algebra, data analysis, and arithmetic.
Verbal reasoning
Verbal reasoning covers a wide variety of skills that include extracting important points, differentiating primary and secondary points, analyzing the structure, and paraphrasing the texts provided. The candidate needs to study a conversation or discussion and draw relevant conclusions from it.
Moreover, this section requires the test taker to analyze a given content and explain the writer’s perspective and mindset behind the content and unravel the multi-layered meaning of the text, whether literal or metaphorical. Comprehending the meaning of the words, sentences, and the full content itself is essential in this part of the test.
